Everybody seems to lose their mind a little bit when it comes to fall. I think it’s because Fall for southerners is a breath of fresh air, because typically we have just got out of a brutal summer and we can actually go outside with it not feeling like we have stepped into an oven.
Staying active through the fall season and into the cold winter is so important! In keeping with the trend for summer, I have put together 15 of the best date ideas to do with your spouse.
Go to a Pumpkin Patch
This one is super fun because pumpkin patches a lot of times have special nights for dates plus you can pick out your pumpkin! Which leads me into the next activity.
I know this one might seem obvious but I have to say it. If you don’t have a pumpkin patch near you, I’ve seen lots of stores that have pumpkins on sale when you buy multiples. Keep in mind that I am literally the last person to make suggestions for decorating because I am the least crafty person alive. HOWEVER, pumpkin decorating can be fun no matter your level of craftiness.
Going for a Hike
Getting outside into the outdoors is so good for you. It helps improve your mood gets your blood pumping and the fresh air is, well, refreshing. There are state parks and trails in each state in the US. If you head over to this link you can find the 25 best State parks. OR you can Google State parks for your state and there will be lists come up.
Have a Bond Fire
I absolutely love bond fires. Plus it can be romantic having a fire with your hunny bunny. I love cooking over them and eating smores and having to get in the warm shower afterwards before going to bed because your entire body smells like the smoke which just smells like fall. Before you have a bondfire, make sure you have a controlled place to do it in and check your area for burn bands, just in case! Plus, if you don’t know why this is romantic, maybe use your imagination…. KnowwhatImean? Yep, okay moving on.
Go Apple Picking
Did you know that you can go pick apples? You can! Hop on Google and check your area for orchards. A lot of times the orchards will have activity days or specials on homemade apple goodies that you can buy while you’re onsite picking apples.
Go for a Hayride
Okay, you personally may not have hay, but there are plenty of places, even in the city that put on hayrides so be on the lookout!
Bake an Apple Pie
From SCRATCH! *gasp*. Ever heard of Bobby Flay? Well, he owns restaurants, is from NYC, and is an Iron Chef… Needless to say the man can cook. Click here to go to Bobby’s apple pie recipe and you might even be able to use the apples that you picked from your orchard escapade!
Find a Corn Maze
There are places around the country that put up mazes made out of either corn stock or hay bales. Some of them are scary which I’m not all about scary, I like the simple fun ones. However, you do you and find one that you would enjoy.
Go to a Harvest Party
There are lots of different organizations that put on harvest parties for adults. They will have fun adult activities such as food tasting, wine tasting, etc.
Growing up I loved loved LOVED riding horses. I haven’t done it in years but I’ve been thinking about it again and I’m ready to find a place and go! Depending on where you live, there are places that will take you out camping for the weekend and your mode of transportation is horseback!
Even if you live in NYC there are places you can go to have a picnic. While it is nice and cool, pack your lunch and head outdoors.
Before you roll your eyes and move on, hear me out! I read somewhere, probably on The Weather Channel but not entirely certain that as it gets cooler, you can see more stars. Why? No clue. But! Grab a cup of hot chocolate or coffee & head out to a place where you can lay out on a blanket with some friends or a special someone and talk. No technology, just hang out and enjoy the cool night air.
Make a Fall Drink Recipe
There are so many different kinds of fun drinks on Pinterest that will keep you and your hunny bear occupied and nice and loose.
Sign up for a 5k
A lot of running races happen in the fall as the weather starts to turn. To put simply, it is the best time of year to run because the weather is so nice. 5k races tend to benefit different charities. Keep in mind that some 5k races are so big you can’t run because it’s so packed. So, be sure to check ahead of time!
Make a Fall Wreath
Again, I am quite literally the last person to tell you how to make a wreath or how to decorate for that matter. I did however come across an awesome site while searching for fall decoration ideas from those that are touched with the gift of decor and crafting and I came across homebunch.com! They have a list of 50 ideas for Fall Decor, so click here to head over there and check it out once you’ve finished making your list of ideas for fall activities!
That’ll keep you busy for awhile!
While the weather is so nice get out and explore this amazing world we live in and while you’re at it, re-connect with your spouse by doing these fun activities.
You’ll notice that every single one of these activities are either free, or they’re extremely cheap and affordable. That’s the entire point! Having a good time doesn’t mean spending a lot of money!
I know that when we’re so busy we can’t see straight that we tend to put date nights or date days on the back burner. Remember that healthy living is not just about workouts. It’s about balance and nurturing those relationships that are so important to us.
The relationship with our spouse is the most important one that we have! They’re in our corner and when we let ourselves get too busy that they get put on the back burner, we end up looking back later and going “what happened?”
Enjoy your spouse this fall and get out there and have an adventure!
