Spring and summer are hands down my most favorite time of the year. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas, it’s amazing. But spring and summer make me so unbelievably happy. What’s better than a summer read list that you’re working your way through while sitting outside in the warm weather?
I mean, let’s be real, when it’s 50 degrees in fall, everybody is wearing sweatshirts and boots. But when it’s 50 degrees in the spring time, everybody is wearing crop tops and shorts and sandals pretending they aren’t freezing.
You know what I mean?
It’s the exact same temperature, but we’re wearing different clothing. It’s hilarious.
One of my favorite past times is to read. With being a wife, mama, and running a business, I don’t get to read as much as I’d like to, but during the spring and summer months especially, I make time to read. It’s vital to my mental stability.
I love to dive into a good book and escape to the far off world that is buried within the depths of the pages.
Becoming emotionally involved in a good book is something that has long been a love of mine.
There have been books and series of books that I will become so involved in emotionally that when I finish the book and close my Kindle or close the covering of the book that I will sit there for a minute and simply ponder what I just read and maybe even have a miniature funeral in my head surrounding this book and the characters that I have become so involved with.
It’s incredible how good authors can make you feel what the book characters are feeling. Sometimes you can physically feel the embarrassment, or the pain, or the happiness.
This type of response to a book is amazing. I’ll be honest, once I set down a good book, I won’t pick up another one for at least a week or two because I have to process the what happened in my other book.
Keep in mind that these books range from fiction, to non-fiction, and everything in between.
I’ll quit rambling and let’s get to our list of summer reads!
*Quick thought- With me recommending some series of books, there are a total of 23 books I’m recommending. So, even though there are only 9 headers, there are 23 total books. Hence the title “23 Books to Read This Summer”. 🙂

Girl, you are not going to run out of things to read this summer!
Get started now because you will want to make sure to get through all of them.
These books are ones that you won’t be able to put down. You will become so involved that you’ll feel like you’re there experiencing it with them.
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll have some deep thinking sessions thinking about your own life, and you’ll learn lessons.
I’m a firm believer in making time to read as it expands your mind and causes you to stop and think.
We get so busy in life that sometimes we feel like we’re simply surviving and that is no way to live at all.
Also, if you don’t have a Kindle, might I suggest you grab one? My hubby bought me one for mother’s day the year I was pregnant because I was pretty much bed ridden at that point in my pregnancy and had a LOT of time on my hands.
I LOVE IT.
While I do still love to grab a book in its physical form, my book shelves are covered in books and I needed something more compact to put in my purse for traveling and if I’m waiting in a doc office or something like that.
Plus, if you’re reading to settle down for bed, there is not a light on the screen, so you’re not going to be tricking your brain into thinking that it’s still daylight or anything. It’s like you’re reading an actual book.

One last thing that I will leave you with.
Take time to enjoy your spring and summer. Take the time to enjoy each and every day of your life.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the show “Sex and the City” that was on HBO. Well, in the movie based on the show, Charlotte (one of the characters) was asked how often she feels happy. She said “Everyday” and Samantha says to her “You feel happy everyday??” To which Charlotte replies, “Well, not all day everyday, but yes. I feel happy every day.”
See, Charlotte made the choice to be happy in her circumstances and she adjusted any circumstance that needed to be adjusted. May we choose joy and happiness and enjoy each and every day of our lives. Because, this life is a gift. May we never, ever waste it.
